Take Longevity Therapeutics from Preclinical to First-in-Human
Helix BioSearch is partnering with an emerging Biotech company developing next-generation therapeutics that target the biology of ageing and aim to extend healthy human lifespan. By combining artificial intelligence, computational biology and experimental science, the company is building a pipeline of novel small-molecule based candidates designed to address fundamental mechanisms of ageing and age-related disease.
The Opportunity
Helix BioSearch is partnering with an emerging Biotech company developing next-generation therapeutics that target the biology of ageing and aim to extend healthy human lifespan. By combining artificial intelligence, computational biology and experimental science, the company is building a pipeline of novel small-molecule based candidates designed to address fundamental mechanisms of ageing and age-related disease.
The role has the potential to be either a permanent or a fractional/advisory basis (equivalent to Executive Director).
Working closely with the company’s leadership, research and preclinical teams, you will help establish the clinical development roadmap, assess candidate readiness and define the studies required to progress novel therapeutics into human trials. The initial focus is on preparing candidates for FIH studies, with scope to support the broader clinical development strategy as the pipeline advances.
Key Responsibilities
Develop clinical development plans for novel longevity-focused therapeutics, translating preclinical findings into clear clinical strategies and development milestones.
Assess candidate readiness for clinical entry, identifying key data requirements, development risks and the outstanding activities needed to support progression into FIH trials.
Provide strategic input into early-phase study design, including dose escalation, safety monitoring, pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) assessments and the selection of appropriate biomarkers and endpoints.
Partner with discovery and preclinical teams to connect mechanism of action, pharmacology, toxicology and biomarker data with clinical hypotheses and trial design.
Advise on regulatory pathways and requirements for clinical entry, including preparation for relevant regulatory interactions and the development of supporting documentation.
Support the selection and oversight of contract research organizations (CROs), clinical sites and external partners, helping ensure studies are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
Collaborate with scientific leadership and other stakeholders to align clinical development priorities with the company’s broader research and business objectives.
Evaluate and prioritize candidates for clinical development, balancing scientific rationale, clinical potential, development timelines and risk.
What We're Looking For
Significant experience in clinical development within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, ideally including time in an emerging biotech.
A demonstrated track record of designing and advancing early-phase clinical programmes, ideally including first-in-human studies.
Experience with small-molecule therapeutics.
A strong understanding of preclinical-to-clinical translation, including pharmacology, toxicology, PK/PD and biomarker strategy.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and the activities needed to support entry into human trials.
The ability to operate effectively in an early-stage, resource-conscious biotech environment, providing both strategic direction and hands-on support
Experience in longevity, ageing biology, geroscience or age-related disease – including mechanisms such as cellular senescence, mitochondrial dysfunction, proteostasis or metabolic regulation – is desirable.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary scientific and executive teams.
Why Apply?
Compensation: $300-350,000 + benefits
Flexible consulting or fractional engagement, working remotely
The chance to shape clinical strategy from an early stage alongside a highly ambitious scientific team
This is an opportunity to join a Biotech at a critical stage of its evolution. You’ll play a pivotal role in translating computationally enabled therapeutic discovery into clinical programmes and in shaping the development of therapies targeting some of the most fundamental mechanisms of human ageing.
If you’re passionate about early clinical development, translational medicine and the science of healthy ageing, we’d love to hear from you.
